NEW LONDON, CT – Mount Saint Mary College freshman
Ku Lekaj (New Milford, Conn.) headed home the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to send the Blue Knights to a 1-0 non-conference victory over Mitchell College. The Mount improved to 4-3-1 overall.
Sophomore
Francesco Marando (Slate Hill, N.Y.) launched a corner kick that found the head of Lekaj inside the box for the game-winner. It was Lekaj’s first collegiate goal.
The Mariners outshot the Blue Knights, 18-7, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Junior
Patrick McGinnis (Binghamton, N.Y.) and senior
Paul Aries (Nashua, N.H.) combined on a four-save shutout for Mount Saint Mary.
For the Blue Knights, the game was the first of three in five days. They’ll host SUNYIT on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Maritime on Saturday at noon.
