NEWBURGH, NY – The SUNY Oneonta baseball team rapped out 21 hits and scored 15 runs in a 15-1 defeat of Mount Saint Mary College on Friday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 24-10 overall while the Blue Knights dropped to 23-9.

Freshman Dan McCrea (Hicksville, N.Y.) drove home the only run of the game for the Blue Knights in the third inning. At the time, his RBI single through the left side cut the deficit in half and made the score 2-1.

Oneonta blew the game wide open with ten hits and nine runs in the third inning. Junior Dan Randall (Salem, N.Y.) doubled twice in the inning, driving in a run each time. Senior Ryan Myers (Clifton Park, N.Y.) laced a pair of RBI singles to left field in the inning.

The Mount had just three base runners after the third inning and never really threatened for the rest of the way. Senior Jim Marsh (Maybrook, N.Y.) recorded two of the team’s six hits during a 2-for-4 performance.

The Blue Knights return home for a double-header with St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn on Saturday, April 25. First pitch is slated for noon. The games will also represent Senior Day for the team’s five seniors.
